Oh what a night! I attended the Red Carpet at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC for the BET Honors Awards 2016. I was excited, stoked and in awe, as the doors opened to start the Red Carpet interviews, a young lady by the name of Kyemah Mcentrye was the first to catch my eye. She wore a dress designed by, herself. The dress was everything, a ballgown with an Afrocentric detail. Her hair was in Bantu Knots, and her accessories was bold gold pieces. I loved her whole look.
I was then graced by the R&B singer Monica. Her gown was elegant and stunning. The designer, Dennis Basso. No accessories needed with this gown. Her makeup was flawless.
In stepped the legendary Pattie Labelle, the Queen of R&B and much more. The Diva wore a color block hot pink and orange shawl dress with bold sparkling accessories. She made sure she was seen, not just heard.
After the Red Carpet the show started. Aresenio Hall was the host of the evening. His commentary was hilarious, he is still a funny guy. Most of his jokes probably will be left on the cutting room floor. The Honorees of the night were Pattie Labelle, Lee Daniels, Eric Holder, L.A. Reid and Mellody Hobson. There were many celebrities in attendance. Some came to perform and others came to show support to their favorite honoree.
The Deele performed an oldie, but goodie,”Two Occasions“. That song Definitely took you back to the 1980’s, good times and good music.
Awesome show. Make sure you watch the BET Honors airing March 14th, 2016.
REMEMBER “IF IT’S NOT HERE IT’S NOT HOT!!!”
