Tyasia Jackson 125x188 Girl, 13, Accused Of Stabbing 2 Year Old Stepsister To Death

Police in Georgia have charged 13-year old Tyasia Jackson with the stabbing death of her 2-year-old stepsister. Tyasia Jackson was at home babysitting her four younger siblings while her parents were at work. At some point during the day, a neighbor witnessed Tyasia letting a boy in the house. “My wife’s coworker lives across the street. She was watching them. She seen my older daughter let a boy in the house. She called my wife at work. My wife told her to go get the boy out of the house,” said Shelton Latroy Ray, Tyasia’s stepfather. After the neighbor got the boy out of the house and left, Tyasia told her siblings to go upstairs — except for her stepsister, 2 year old Shasha Lamaya Ray. Tyasia allegedly walked the girl towards the back door then used a knife to stab her seven times in the chest area before tossing her body over a balcony. When Tyasia’s parents returned home, she participated in looking for her stepsister when it was realized she was missing. The neighbor who kicked the boy out of the home earlier was also the one who found Sasha’s body at the back of the home and alerted her parents. Shelton picked up his daughter and says that she died in his arm. He also said that the last thing he thought was that she had been murdered. “I thought a dog or something had gotten to her because of the bruises, the scars and the bleeding. Murder was far from my mind at that time. I didn’t think anyone had did something to her,” said Shelton. Tyasia would end up arrested and charged with murder, as an adult, after confessing to detectives. Shelton says Tyasia confessed to him as well, calling from jail and admitting to him that she had stabbed her stepsister to death. Neighbors describe Tyasia as very pleasant and well mannered, often seen walking her younger siblings to the bus stop  in the morning. Her family attended her court hearing yesterday, where Shelton told her that he loves her. ”It’s tough to swallow right now. I can’t believe it. At the same time she still needs our help. We are her parents,” said Shelton. When asked what he would say to his stepdaughter if he had a chance, Shelton said he would tell her that he was there for her but she will have to pay the consequences of her actions.  ”All I would say is, what you did is wrong and there are going to be some consequences that you will have to face, and you’re going to have to face them, and we’re going to help you along the way while you’re facing those consequences,” Shelton said.
