If you didn’t attend the concert, You miss it! From my prospective (media) it was an experience that I wouldn’t like to experience again. From the moment we walked into Nassau Coliseum we felt as if we were in a detention center, as if we were prisoners. We were escorted to the media room from which wasn’t even back stage. It was on the total opposite side of the stage. lol ..I had to use the bathroom so I walked up to a security officer discretly and ask if I could without him making a announcement and yet to be sure, he did.. “Does anybody need to use the bathroom? Please line up and follow me”. I said to Joneal, laughing “Yo this is crazy”. I understand the importance of security but never the less, its not like we were walking around the building. But ‘”com on son”, line up in the hall…lol
So were stuck in a room with about 25 to 30 other media companies.
We were explained by the PR of the event that the artist only wanted to interview with certain companies and that’s it. Only MAVADO, LIVEWIRE AND YOUNG DODUS MMG but of course after doing what we do to get it, gave us the interviews. WHIHH.com was told we had the highest level of excess but reality was we were on the same level as the other companies. smh.
We were not only told we can only record up-to three songs of each artist but it was from the sound board area which is so far back from stage.-Ratchet We might as well bought front row tickets. And someone tell me why was DJ Self from Power 105.1, on stage trying to entertain the crowd like a party for like 30 to 40 minutes… OK true story we spoke to Tiptop, CEO of Dream Team Nation and he explained as in the interview we did, that Nassau Coliseum changed the agreement at the last minute. And wanted to work it there way.
Long Story short… Lots of media were unhappy with the the whole idea of promoting this event and not getting much in return, not even a bottle of water. We weren’t even allowed to stand in the pit area. I hope DTN learns from this experience for future reference to set up clauses with these artist where at-least they can do photo drops/video drops.
Seems like Artist in today’s day in age don’t respect media/fans or understand who has the last word!
This Is Whatshotinhiphop!
If It’s Not Here It’s Not Hot!
So you tell me, am I wrong? How could this have been better?
Its like you read my mind! You seem to understand
a lot about this, like you wrote the ebook in it or something.
I think that you simply can do with some % to
force the message home a bit, however instead of that, this is
excellent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
Right here are a couple of techniques that you can
identify which item finest suits your requires.
I always used to study post in news papers but now as I am a user of net therefore from now I
am using net for content, thanks to web.
Wow .. So I read the blog
But you can’t say that it all the artist aka rappers fault
This situation all comes down to the promoters
If you know your goin to a rap show in a HOCKY arena aka
NASSAU COLISEUM hell yea security is goin to be tight! But from the looks of the pic they just throw some well known rappers on stage and said get that money $$$
But anyway next time try taken some eyecandy with you
Maybe you can get some pix and a interview and be backstage.. Just sayn
I hear what you saying. And u prob right abt tasking somerr eyecasndy with us..
This is a situation that truly sheds light on who’s an artist and who gets placed in a show. Artist thrive on media as the media feed the fans intricate parts of the artists careers! An artist without media is like a car without a battery, it won’t work! The LAST thing an artist wants to be is IRRELEVANT! !!! People shun and clown paparazzi; but if you remember, the same ones did anything for a story.
What could have been different? Proper planning with an ironclad contract that doesn’t bite the promoter in the butt! Something embracing a media meet and greet to give exclusive time for stellar interviews! Just my 37 cents
I hear u loud in clear…. Heer heer
Very interesting blog. He has a lot of problems right now. Because of those stupid lyrics, he’s getting hit in the pockets. I mean how arrogant you must be to think no one would challenge the meaning of those lyrics. I am not a fan. Good job.
I’m not surprised at all…I actually knew this would happen.
Leave your comment here.what do you think and was you there?
An absolute outrage. Most artist won’t ever understand that it’s all about the fan’s. and that’s another reason why they don’t last that long in the industry. It’s called “respect”sonn! If they don’t embrace the blessing that they have, it can all be gone in a snap of a finger.
this is so true. Media is who they need to reach there fans
I don’t give a flying rats ass who you are all of us as artist, indie or major need the media. i myself don’t just need the media, i want the media. One problem i have with the media is that they are following the wrong artist. I call artist like this Janky just like the promoters that book them. They don’t respect the power of the media. But they gonna learn today!!!
lol I hear you Mikey Jay
And this sir is why I get so crazy when it comes to your brand! If it aint stellar it aint happening!
I AM SO HAPPY WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE. SUCH DISRESPECT! RIKERS ISLAND HAD NOTHING ON THEM. BIG WASTE OF TIME!
You were there as the media as well. How did you feel about the event?
