We here at WHIHH.com learned last night of the passing of Chris Kelly aka Mac Daddy, one-half of the 1990s hip hop duo Kris Kross. As details continue to be released, but pending official autopsy results it seems the cause of death is an apparent drug-overdose. Fulton County police in Atlanta, GA. were called to the home of Chris Kelly around 4:30 pm on Wednesday May 1st. He was then rushed to Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 5 pm by Investigator Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office. Information leaks are stating drug-overdose based on statements received at the scene and evidence found within the home.
Kris Kross was discovered in an Atlanta Mall by music producer Jermaine Dupri and rocking their clothes backwards. They broke into the music industry with their 1992 multi-platinum debut album, “Totally Krossed Out” and debut single “Jump.” The duo was comprised of Chris Kelly aka Mac Daddy and Chris Smith aka Daddy Mac. Chris Kelly was 34 years young. We would like to express our deepest sincerity and condolences to The Kelly family.
