During Kanye West’s career, he has forayed into film-making previously with his “Runaway” short film for his “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” album and his “Cruel Summer” 7-screen viewing at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, we have also seen Kanye produce videos for himself and others so this arena is not completely foreign to West. Kanye is now working on a movie inspired by his latest album “Yeezus”, Kanye has enlisted the help of “American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis to write the screenplay. Speaking with Vice Magazine, Easton said of the “Yeezus” movie:
“It’s in Kanye-land and that’s subject to a whole other timeframe. He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to Yeezus. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So fuck it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”
Kanye also released a promo video for the movie, starring Scott Disick last year as kind of a teaser trailer:
