Ross Gets Another #1 Album

Rick Ross Reebok

The numbers are in and Rick Ross scored another #1 album with “Mastermind”, the album was released a day ahead of its planned release date and like we’ve seen with Beyonce that might have been a good idea. According to HitsDailyDouble, Ross sold a little under 185,000 beating out Pharrell’s “G i r l” by 74,000 copies. This achievement makes Ross the rapper with the most number #1 albums since his debut in August of ’06, only Jay Z (13), Eminem (seven), Nas and Kanye West (tied with 6) have had more and he is now tied with Tupac and Dmx.

After performing at the Fader Fort at South By Southwest Ross spoke with In Flex We Trust about his recent success:

“You know what, when this is what you center everything around, you just want the best, not only for yourself, but for your team, everybody you build with,” Ross said. “I not only want a No. 1 for me but for all the new-time dudes who’ve never been on a No. 1 album.”

“Regardless of the success I see, I still go back to my foundation … that made me.” “Yesterday, after being out on promo for two months, I took a day out of my schedule to go to the smaller markets in South Carolina, the Columbias, you know the (places) that don’t get attention. But those are the places where I remember making my first $5,000 shows from, so I still go to those places. At the end of the day, I still think that’s the energy that keep that moving like that.”
