There is no question that New York City is the fashion capital of the world and this sentiment didn’t ring more true this past weekend at the Helen Mills Event and Space Theater. This past Saturday P.O.M Entertainment, Chandler & Chandler Events and celebrity stylist Mazadi B. presented the first annual Underground Artistry Fashion show and Showcase hosted by “Sassy” of VH1’s hit show Black Ink.
Underground Artistry serves as a platform for developing and promoting artists, singers, rappers, models, poets and designers to get recognized for their hard work and passion. The event showcased varying forms of art seamlessly through the night with Black Ink’s Sassy doing her thing as the event’s host, guiding us through the many performers that were in attendance during the night. The talented designers that were showcased were: Mazadi B. Couture, Nene L.A. Shiro, Dana Roso, Viva La CoCo, Authentic by John Ashford, Alonzo Cornelious and Original Crackage, each showing the designers unique style and vision.
Along with the terrific fashion were performances by: SteelyOne, None, L.E.S., Dru the Monster, Base (poet) and the BLKID Twins, each of the artist set the tone for the next designer perfectly and kept the crowd entertained while the crowd waited for the the next designers set.
To go with the great entertainment, guests were treated to great food and drinks courtesy of Koffi’s Jello Bar, Cupcakes & Cosmetics, Exclusic Vodca and the award winning Chef Juvon of Jayvon Makers Catering. The showcase didn’t just benefit the artist who were there, five percent of the events proceeds would be dedicated to the Spina Bifida Association. With such a successful event and the addition of aiding a worthy cause, The Underground Artistry showcase will reach its goal of gaining national attention sooner that you know it.
AND of Course “This is WHAT’S HOT IN HIP HOP!
