The popular Hip Hop Artist, Drake, is on a consistent path, making his way to the top of the Hip Hop game. Drake is known for his use of samples in his expression of the art, but this time, his freedom of speech, may have managed to put him in the HOT seat, because he’s now being SUED!
On Drake’s latest project, “Pound Cake,” the song includes a 35 second recording from a 1982 song by jazz singer, Jimmy Smith Rap. Drake is now being sued by the estate for stealing music and lyrics from jazz singer Jimmy Smith’s last studio album.
If that is not bad enough, Drake may have just managed to make matters worse as he allegedly lied about having permission. According to TMZ, “Drake never got permission to use the clip. Even worse, represented in the liner notes that the clip was properly license.” Smh!
The estate is suing for $300k. GOT damn (drizzy voice.)
