Whats up my WHIHH family. Its time to discuss a legend in the hip hop game.
LL Cool J recently released a single with a new video from his upcoming G.O.A.T 2 album featuring Raekwon, Murda Mook, Ron Browz and directed by Benny Boom and produced by Raekwon. On this upcoming album he features other artists such as T.I., J. Cole, Mavado, and Uncle Murda. His release date for the album has yet to be announced but I’m sure all of New York and the rest of the hip hop world are waiting.
In the lyrics to this single, LL gives you his Queens roots in the street, gritty sense. I personally enjoyed the fact that he kept it hood and to the point. No soft, love-making music on this track.
In a recent interview with VIP Saturday, he talked about his motivation for this upcoming album, reassuring the world that it’s not for the money but because he’s “been apart of damn near every era of hip hop.” He states that he “wanted to give a real joint that’s for the hood and that’s for the people not like me….”
As I respect every musical artist in their aspect, I think we all can appreciate this “come back” of LL Cool J back to the hip hop world. As we know, there have been a lot of dabbling, time to get serious and remember what we originally loved hip hop for… an outlet of self proclamation and empowerment.
If its not here, its not hot. This is what’s hot in hip hop.
